Presidents’ Day is an American holiday celebrated on the third Monday in February. Originally established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington, it is still officially called “Washington’s Birthday” by the federal government. Traditionally celebrated on February 22—Washington’s actual day of birth—the holiday became popularly known as Presidents’ Day after it was moved as part of 1971’s Uniform Monday Holiday Act, an attempt to create more three-day weekends for the nation’s workers. While several states still have individual holidays honoring the birthdays of Washington, Abraham Lincoln and other figures, Presidents’ Day is now popularly viewed as a day to celebrate all U.S. presidents past and present. The Michigan Department of Transportation has submitted a news release to all drivers regarding a change to the color of lighting on winter road maintenance vehicles that will make them more visible in poor weather conditions. Click here to read the release.

· Loud talking, singing, or screaming
· Not sitting properly.
NOTE: Students are to remain seated bottom to the bottom and back to the back and out of the aisle at all times until the bus has come to a complete stop at each students specified destination, unless directed to move by the driver.

After more than six years of successful bus driving for Grass Lake Community Schools, Mr. Robert Quinn will be leaving the school district for other pursuits after the afternoon run of Friday, October 21. He has done an excellent job for us and we will miss him. With his departure comes changes in drivers on several routes, effective Tuesday, October 25.
